Contractors accelerate work on the Tuyen Quang–Ha Giang Expressway, a strategic infrastructure project aimed at boosting regional connectivity and economic growth
Growth Driven by Decisive Governance
The year 2025 marked the final phase of the province’s 2021–2025 socio-economic development plan, while also being the first full year of operation under the newly merged provincial administration and the two-tier local government model. Despite the heavy workload, the province maintained stable economic growth, with 19 of 25 key indicators meeting or exceeding targets. GRDP is estimated to have expanded by 8.01%, in line with the goal assigned by the Government.
From policy direction to grassroots operations, the spirit of "acceleration and breakthrough" has been palpable. Industry and construction have regained momentum, bolstered by new projects that have significantly expanded the province's productive capacity. In agriculture, the shift from traditional rice monoculture toward high-value, climate-resilient production has ensured stability, maintaining the sector's role as the economy’s sturdy pillar. Meanwhile, trade and tourism remain vibrant bright spots; in 2025, the province welcomed an estimated 3.9 million visitors, with tourism expenditure hitting VND 10.5 trillion (approx. USD 413 million), surpassing the annual target by 8%.
Boosting Trade and Market Integration In late December 2025, the Vietnam–China International Trade Fair served as a strategic catalyst for economic growth, unlocking fresh opportunities for local enterprises. The event provided a high-level platform for businesses, cooperatives, and traders to engage directly with international partners, particularly from Chinese provinces, thereby forging new export corridors. This momentum carried into early 2026, with subsequent trade fairs successfully elevating the province’s signature products in broader markets.
Mr. Tran Viet The, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, noted that these fairs drew significant interest from both visitors and major buyers. Robust marketing of OCOP (One Commune, One Product) and rural industrial goods has not only enhanced product value but also aligned local production with global market demands. Numerous businesses have since secured long-term partnerships, establishing distribution networks that span processing, logistics, and trade services.
Infrastructure as a Driver for Growth Public investment disbursement remains a top priority. Even during the New Year holidays, construction remained in high gear on backbone projects, including the Tuyen Quang–Ha Giang Expressway and the Ho Chi Minh Road (Cho Chu – Trung Son section). Parallel to physical infrastructure, administrative reforms and digital transformation have been accelerated to ensure seamless public services amidst local government restructuring.

Laying the Groundwork for a New Development Phase
The technical opening of the Tuyen Quang–Ha Giang Expressway on December 19, 2025, marked a transformative milestone for the Northern Midlands and Mountainous region. This strategic artery is poised to slash travel times, reduce logistics costs, and unlock a wave of investment in tourism and trade.
At the construction sites, the atmosphere remains electric. Crews are working triple shifts—often through the night—to finalize the remaining sections.
Mr. Do Ngoc Thuan, General Director of Phuong Dong Investment and Development JSC, affirmed that his company has mobilized its entire workforce to maintain the post-opening schedule.
As 2026 kicks off the new five-year plan, the province has set an ambitious annual growth target of over 10%. Key strategies include refining the provincial master plan, optimizing land-use for newly merged localities, and channeling resources into strategic irrigation and clean water infrastructure for highland areas.
Mr. Phan Huy Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, emphasized that accelerating public investment will be the "central task" of 2026. The province is committed to de-bottlenecking land clearance and administrative hurdles to attract private capital, ODA, and NGO funding.
Entering 2026, the achievements of 2025 serve as a robust springboard. From the shaping of modern infrastructure to the expansion of specialized production monocultures and digital governance, Tuyen Quang is signaling a clear commitment to sustainable, long-term prosperity.
